Louisville (pronounced 'Looey-vill') stands on the banks of the scenic Ohio River, in the state of Kentucky (KY). Now merged with Jefferson County, Louisville is famous for its enormous Kentucky Derby horse racing event each year and Louisville was founded in 1778, being named after French King Louis XVI.
